The Year An Icon Was Born
Fresh to the DMC Watch lineup is the brand new 1981 Chronograph collection, named after the year the first DeLorean rolled off the assembly line. With a generous 42 mm stainless steel case equipped with a duo of chronograph pushers and a tachymeter scale, the DMC 1981 Chronograph carries on the same sporty spirit of the iconic DeLorean car.
The Dial. The Watch Dashboard
Like the dashboard of a car, the dial of the watch tells you everything you need to know. At the center of the dial—available in black or silver—sits the hour and minute hands. And because the chronograph hand takes the traditional place of the seconds’ hand, the seconds are instead displayed in a sub dial at 6 o’clock. At the 9 o’clock position is the 30-minute totalizer. This sub dial records how long the chronograph hand has been running, up to 30 minutes in total. Located at the top of the dial is the 24-hour sub dial, which serves as a day/night indicator. If the hand on the 24-hour sub dial is pointing to “6” then it is 6 AM but if it points to “18” then it is 6 PM. Finally, tucked in between 4 and 5 o’clock is a discreet date window.
Bracelets and Straps
The new DMC 1981 Chronograph offers two different band styles to keep the watch securely and comfortably on your wrist. For a more formal touch, opt for the classic black leather strap fitted with a steel tang buckle. Alternatively, if you prefer a sportier style, then the matching robust stainless steel three-link bracelet equipped with a butterfly clasp is the perfect pairing.
